INTRAW Workshop Brüsszelben

Dear colleague,
The INTRAW project team cordially invites you to participate in a workshop on future scenarios on international raw materials provision. This workshop will be held on 30 November 2016 (morning) in Brussels in the framework of the first edition of the “Raw Materials Week” (28 November to 2 December 2016) organised by the European Commission (DG Grow).
The INTRAW project has been launched in early 2015 as part of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme for Research & Innovation to foster international cooperation on raw materials. INTRAW has been set up to map and develop new cooperation opportunities related to raw materials between the EU and other technologically advanced countries, such as Australia, Canada, Japan, South Africa and the United States.
In this workshop, participants will be invited to comment and elaborate on three different possible futures for global raw materials provisioning in 2050. This attempt to look into the long-term future of the mineral raw materials world will be used to explore two pathways: 1) how to prepare for the three scenarios; and 2) which is the desired scenario and how to safeguard against the others.
Scenarios are a particularly useful tool to navigate in a changing world, providing insight that contributes to increase the consistency of strategic decisions. Forward looking activities related to mineral raw materials are scattered, dispersed and heterogeneous. Developing scenarios on raw materials provision from a European perspective is useful to define recommendations for present-day EU policies and research strategies to bring about a desired future.
You will find the agenda and more information about this event at the following link. Participation in this event is free of charge but registration is mandatory until 25 November 2016. To register, please use this form.
We very much look forward to welcoming you at the INTRAW workshop!
